    President

    Hugh Dickey is a retiree and he and his wife, Georgia, moved to Evergreen in 2010. A native of Colorado, he grew up in Golden, and taught in middle school after graduating from CU, before going on to graduate School of Mines. He spent 30 years working for Chevron Corporation in various jobs around the world, with his last job as a global manager of public and government affairs. Since retiring, they have been season ticket holders of Evergreen Players and have thoroughly enjoyed having wonderful community theater in our area.

    Jennai Howe Bachus believes that the arts are one of the important ways for communities and individuals to express, create and share. She grew up in Evergreen and is so excited that her experience as an Organizational Consultant and her love of the arts have come together in what she calls “one of the most rewarding roles” she has been privileged to enjoy. Jennai has served on the boards and as an officer of multiple arts and education boards throughout Colorado. Although she is not a performer, she is always happy to be an audience member and an avid supporter of the arts. One of her favorite parts of the Players is Drama Camp which happens every July.

    John and his wife Kathleen become a part of the Players family when they moved to Evergreen over 50 years ago. While they played many parts on stage together, it quickly became apparent that John's theater skills were strongest in other areas. Light and sound design, stage management and administrative duties make up the bulk of his activities with the Players. John has also served on the Board of Directors of both the national theater organization (AACT) and the state theater organization (CCTC). John passed away in January 2023 and is now and will always be missed. The Evergreen Players will always hold a seat on the board for John - the "Heart of the Players"

    Since 1966 Kathleen has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work and play with countless talented, caring, and funny folks in this community who love theater. When not busy with parenting or a career as pianist and music educator, she has acted, directed, built sets, and swept floors. Currently Kathleen serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors.

    Larae Evans

    Board Member

    Larae Evans is a graphic designer and advertising art director who creates brands and advertising for clients both in Colorado and nationwide. Her work has been featured in multiple national design competitions throughout her career. She advises Evergreen Players on marketing, and has helped guide initiatives aimed at enhancing how the organization presents itself to the community at large. Larae enjoys live theatre (she married into a theatre family), and she feels Evergreen Players productions exemplify the highest standards of professional theatre in our mountain community. Larae also owns Marmalade Jewelry in downtown Evergreen.

    Leann Ritter

    Leann Ritter grew up here in Evergreen and has always been very active in the theater community. She attended New York University where she majored in acting and spent eight years studying and working in theater and film in NYC before moving home to Colorado. From 2016 - 2021, Leann ran Evergreen Players' Summer Drama Camp program and also helped to run and develop the educational programs. You may have seen her onstage with the Players in The Old Man and the Old Moon or with her now husband, Eric Ritter, in The Explorers Club. When not onstage you can find Leann working in the exciting world of insurance with Michele Vanags State Farm and hanging out with her husband Eric and two kiddos, Tyler and James.

    Tara Emch is an indispensable reason for the Evergreen Players success. She has served in many roles but she is currently our Executive Director. Tara has lived in Colorado for over 17 years. She and her husband Kevin moved to Evergreen in 2006 from Greenwood Village, and they have 3 children and two precious Grandchildren.

    Tara is a former Vice President/Branch Manager at the Cherry Creek Colorado State Bank and Trust and she has more than 25 years of business experience in management and sales

    When asked why Evergreen Players? Tara responded, "I went to see Hair one summer and a week later I was on the payroll. I loved everything about the organization. The people are great, the energy is so positive, and it is a wonderful way to bring our Evergreen community together. I knew I had to be part of it! And since I can't act, working behind the scenes was a perfect fit. I am thrilled to be part of the Evergreen Players family."

    Christopher started his acting path at the University of Minnesota. His stage acting life flourished in Portland, Oregon and he earned his SAG card while living in California. Christopher joined the Evergreen Players board in 2023 to revisit his acting life and hopefully share some of his business insight. Christopher is the proud co-owner of Colorado Distributors.

    Ryan mostly roamed around before landing in Colorado in 2016. He attended The University of Texas at San Antonio where he earned a degree in Sports Management. After working in college athletics for 5 years Ryan transitioned careers and has been a data analyst ever since. You may have seen him onstage with the Players in The Old Man and the Old Moon or painting sets and hiding in the sound booth. When not at the theatre you can find Ryan analyzing data for The Nature Conservancy and hanging out with his wife, Katrina.

    Kellie Fox has found a home with Evergreen Players. Since 2019, Fox has worked with Evergreen Players as an actor in The Old Man and the Old Moon and The Wedding Singer, choreographer for Nevermore, and directed and choreographed The Jungle Book for Summer Drama Camp. Fox has served in various roles from puppetry to set painting, bringing a collaborative spirit and attention to detail to jobs of all sizes. Fox is a lifelong multidisciplinary artist who regularly performs in theatre productions across the region. Her strong commitment to the arts, and comprehensive understanding of theatre production will help Evergreen Players maintain its reputation for delivering outstanding performances and will serve her well in her new role as Production Manager. Kellie Fox is originally from Texas but has lived in Colorado since 2015. She earned her B.S. in Advertising from the University of Texas and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Texas at Dallas.

    Nicole Weary moved to Evergreen as a newlywed in 1999 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Northwest Missouri State University. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering throughout the community, hiking and watching her children, Alexandra and Nicolas, perform on stage. Nicole lives in Evergreen with her husband and two dogs.

    Marilyn has been working with the Players in many capacities since 2011 when she performed in the production of Women of Lockerbie. Since then she has performed in several shows and worked on the technical side with props, set dressing, front of house & ‘volunteer of all trades’. She began working as an instructor last year and become an indispensable member of our team. This year Marilyn has added writing and directing as well, and her world premiere of "Dementiaville" will be performed at Center Stage in April 2022.

ABOUT US

The Evergreen Players began in 1950 as a group of friends gathering in each other’s homes to read plays aloud. Today it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization producing more than five shows per year for the foothills community. Offerings range from classics to regional premieres, comedies to musicals to dramas. Annually the group involves professionals and amateur volunteers of all ages and walks of life, on stage and behind the scenes. The Evergreen Players’ mission is to create professional quality theater to inspire, engage, and entertain.
