Volunteer

Join the Evergreen Players Community today!

The Evergreen Players is always looking for dependable, enthusiastic volunteers. We welcome volunteers in all positions, and experience is never necessary – we will teach you everything you need to know. If you’d like to join us, please contact us.

Not all of the work that needs to be done in the staging of a production takes place during the run of the play. Much of the effort – public relations or set design for instance – is done well before the performances start. Take a look at some of the opportunities available – we think you’ll be surprised and intrigued by some of the things we do.

Volunteer during the two-week summer day camp, helping kids (age 5-17) discover the magic of theater.
The front of house consists of the box office, concessions, will call and usher. Box office volunteers will sell tickets and check in guests who have reservations. Ideal for someone comfortable with computers and not easily flustered. Concession volunteers supervise the sale of refreshments both before a performance and during the intermission. Will call and usher volunteers check in paid guests, hand out programs, and direct guests to their seats.
Fundraising Coordinators plan and manage our fundraising events. The ideal person is an excellent salesperson, ambassador, manager, and is very organized and energetic!
Do you have experience with grant writing processes and know how to research funders? If so, volunteering as a grant writer may be perfect for you.
Interested in designing? This work would be ideal for someone with knowledge of design software or with a creative flair and who can work to meet deadlines.
The Lighting Designer is responsible for the appearance of the stage lighting during a production. Knowledge of equipment and computerized light boards a must. The light board operator controls the theater lighting during the performances of a show using a computerized system.
This is a unique “backstage view” that will allow you to learn about theatre from the inside out. As a producer (co-producer) you will assist with the financial and administrative aspects of a stage production as well as raising money and hiring technicians and artists – virtually everything required to stage a play.
Every show needs props and someone to collect them. You’ll gather the furniture, set dressings and items the actor uses during the action of the play. If you have a scavenger instinct, this one’s for you.
PR & Marketing volunteers are constantly on the lookout for new and creative ways to get the Players’ name before the public.
A set designer and the director collaborate to bring to the production a visual expression of the playwright’s aims. He/she is responsible for designing the stage setting.
These are the people who actually bring the set designer’s vision to life. Abilities to paint, draw, hammer and climb ladders are useful.
The Sound Designer works with the director to prepare any sound that is recorded or produced mechanically. Some knowledge of microphones, telephones, doorbells, instrument amplification and recorded sounds is helpful. The Soundboard Operator controls the theater sound systems and operates equipment used to play recorded music and sound effects during the performances.
We participate in or host a handful of special events throughout the year that allow us to raise awareness of our organization, promote the current production, and/or fundraise. These events are not always held at Center Stage. Special event volunteers would represent the Players at these events by usually working a booth.
The Stage Manager is accountable for the show during its run. All cues come from the Stage Manager and both cast and crew are responsible to the Stage Manager. The Run Crew support the Stage Manager and ensure props, pieces of the set and indeed the actors are in the right place at the right time.
